Your next bike upgrade?

A dropper seat post with lever. Also known as a dropper is a height adjustable seat post. It’s purpose is to allow a cyclist to change their saddle height while riding a bike. Dropper posts are often used on mountain bikes and gravel bikes, but are less common on road bikes. They are considered a major cycling innovation in recent years, and can make riding safer, easier, and more efficient.

Dropper posts can be operated with a lever on the seat post or with a remote lever mounted on the handlebars. A remote lever is pictured below- it is cable activated. The lever action causes the seat post to raise lower or raise.

And just why would this help you in your riding you ask? Several reasons including: climbing, descending and maneuverability. In climbing it allows you to place your saddle at the optimal height for your pedaling. In descending especially steep descents and technical movements it allows you to lower your saddle and avoid injury due to ramming your body with the seat. Maneuverability- a dropper posts can help in situations like berms, flat turns, and slopestyle courses .

A visit with your bike is in order to see how this upgrade will improve your ride.
